Socio-economic factors contributing to endemic filariasis in Kerala, India: Exploring xenomonitoring studies to evaluate the efficacy of therapeutic practices for disease control

Lymphatic filariasis causes a wide spectrum of clinical and subclinical disease manifestations. The is prevalent in various parts the state Kerala, India factors are contributing to its endemicity state. objective present study examine socio-economic occupational characteristics filarial patients residing at endemic locations 10 districts Kerala. results revealed that most victims males falling age group 61-75 years (56.55%±18). Data on pre-infection history 95.8% (±8.53) people residents. Details post-infection status them (77.05%±17.27) leading sedentary sort life unemployed. 97.92 % (±3.23) suffering from manifestations form swelling legs. 58.72% (±13.64) not following any treatment practice 98.75% (±3.75) aware disease-causing parasite. as whole concluded congested pattern lifestyle, poor knowledge disease, parasites, vectors along with management practices prime reasons for endemicity.Xenomonitoring mosquitoes parasites during pre-MDA post-MDA periods has also been carried out two disease-endemic (Thirunellayi Palakkad Ponnani Malappuram) infection rates period were estimated be 2.97% 0.88% Malappuram districts. No observed collected period, which an indication efficiency control programs undertaken community level.
